Job Description

An opportunity has arisen within the Engineering department for CAD/CAM Technician. This is a permanent, full time position to support manufacturing departments, which attracts a swing shift rotation (6am – 2pm / 2pm – 10pm).

      Key Responsibilities:

•         EDM/CNC/Waterjet Manufacturing Help chain

•         Assembling, fitting and repairing and maintain press tools

•         Following engineering drawings or reference CAD models

•         Competent in use of all hand tools

•         Using machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines and grinders to cut and shape the tools

•         Using 2D and 3D computer aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM)

•         Using NC and CNC milling machines

•         Using precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers to check the tool’s dimensions

•         Monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements

•         Attending machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problem

•         Assisting with tool maintenance

•         Compiling reports

•         Assist with new die development

•         Design and manufacture small mould tools, jigs and fixtures



Qualifications

Requirements: 

•         4-year recognized toolmaking apprenticeship plus additional 5-yrs experience

•         HNC / HND In Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent

•         CAD / CAM Training

•         CNC / NC Machining Training

•         Time Served EDM/CNC/CAD/CAM Toolmaking or manufacturing experience

•         The ability to work independently and as part of a team

•         Good math’s and IT skills

•         Be actively involved in continuous improvement initiatives and providing input using your expert knowledge.
