Job Description

Ÿ  Provide coaching and mentoring for other members of the team including training new department employees

Ÿ  Enforce and practice a high standard of health and safety at all times and ensure that the plant is operated safely

Ÿ  Set up and calibrate equipment and maintain administration records

Ÿ  Select appropriate technique for the NDT method to be performed

Ÿ  Prepare written instructions and techniques for NDT inspection

Ÿ  Understand NDT standards and specifications and translate into working instructions

Ÿ  Interpret and evaluate results in relation to acceptance standards and specifications

Ÿ  Organise and report test results

Ÿ  Clearly identify defective products and produce reports

Ÿ  Involvement with internal and customer audits

Ÿ  Update and maintain company booking systems

Ÿ  Involvement in continuous improvement programs

Ÿ  Any other adhoc duties as required


Ÿ  Maintain high levels of competency even when working to strict deadlines

Ÿ  Achieve the required level of throughput against daily / weekly targets

Ÿ  Adherence to company and customer standards and specifications








Ÿ  Knowledge of testing components for aerospace, oilfield and commercial applications

Ÿ  Knowledge of fluorescent inks and dyes and MPI bench units is essential

Ÿ  Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of NDT principles

Ÿ  Possess a basic knowledge of relevant product manufacture and inspection technologies

Ÿ  Worked in a heavy engineering environment (essential)

Ÿ  Experience of aerospace industry (essential)

Ÿ  From a forgings, bars or billets background (essential)

Ÿ  Hold or previously held NAS 410 / EN 4179 qualifications (essential)

Ÿ  Previous experience of contact Ultrasonic Inspection on forged and wrought products

Ÿ  Overhead crane licence

Ÿ  FLT licence


Ÿ  NAS 410 / EN 4179 Level II in Magnetic Particle Inspection (essential)

Ÿ  NAS 410 / EN 4179 Level II in Dye Penetrant Inspection

Ÿ  NAS 410 / EN 4179 Level II in Contact Ultrasonic
