Job Description

KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE

• Understanding and experience of EHS and quality requirements in a maintenance/manufacturing environment.
• Understanding and experience of applying safe systems of work such as Lock-Tag-Verify.
• Maintaining a wide range of manufacturing equipment and ancillary equipment ranging from large machinery to site services.
• Knowledge in continuous improvement techniques.
• IT skills
• Experience in driving mobile equipment such as MEWP’s and F.L.T.

Safe system of work for all tasks undertaken. Company procedures adhered to.
Quality 
Condition and functionality of equipment and machinery does not diminish the manufacturing process with regard to quality. 

Service 
Provision of effective and efficient breakdown repairs. A focus on plant reliability. Active follow up on previous plant issues.

Provision of a methodical and focused preventative and predictive maintenance function.
Facilitate and be a Coordinator for one of the KG systems.

Communication (verbal & written)  
Highlighting of potential plant issues and possible solutions with a view to elimination. Detailed and accurate reporting of plant issues/repair/modifications
Continuous improvement.  
Elimination of repetitive plant issues and increase in reliability. Active participation in the DI and TQ process. Develop MWI and Step by Step procedures.

OPERATING ENVIRONMENTS
• Supervising and/or operating within a maintenance team that may include internal and/or external labour resource.
• Performing duties that may not be classed as part of their key discipline but are well within their capabilities.
• Operating in a structured environment complying to the maintenance schedule/Maintenance needs.
• With sound reasoning, deviating from the schedule in accordance with priorities such as offering breakdown support for the entire site.
• Effective and efficient breakdown repairs in accordance with the plant priorities.
• Total flexible working regarding all Kitts Green processes and off-site functions where we facilitate support.
• Liaise with manufacturing personnel regarding plant release, downtime estimation, plant hand backs and alternative/compromise solutions.
• Undertaking special projects and other responsibilities as determined.
• Offer engineering support/expertise.

JOB CHALLENGES
• The role is physically challenging – maintaining a large site inclusive of working at heights and confined spaces is very demanding.
• The diverse nature of the equipment can not only be technically demanding but also requires a fully flexible outlook. Maintainers can deviate from working on heavy industrial plant to installation work in an office block. 
• The ability to work calmly under pressure, make decisions, and ensure good communication at all times are essential.
• The job holder will have a full understanding of all Site Plant and technologies.
• The job holder must form a formidable team ethos with both the area production leadership and his maintenance counterparts.

  • Full apprenticeship – NVQ 3 ONC
  • 16th/17th Edition
